The Borderers fell to their fifth defeat of the season in Division One West, despite a strong performance away to Cwmllynfell on Saturday.

The game, which was played in poor conditions, saw Whitland nearly nick a win at the end, as the visitors found themselves camped on the hosts' line through a succession of scrums in the final minutes, but all they had to show for their hard work in a tight encounter was a penalty in each half from Nico Setaro.

Cwmllynfell got on the score sheet during the first period, with a try from hooker Dylan Crump, which was converted by Peter Thomas, and that was enough to secure their fifth win in seven matches.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the Borderers entertain Crymych at home.
