GOWERTON 56 pts.
PEMBROKE DOCK QUINS nil
The Quins conceded no less than eight tries against the league leaders Gowerton on Saturday in a re-arranged fixture from earlier in the season.
The Quins, who had a weakened side out, never threw in the towel and were unlucky not to score a few tries themselves.
The home side took just 10 minutes to get on the scoresheet when centre Rob John cut through to score near the uprights.
Outside-half Josh Hamer converted, and five minutes later scrum-half Bleddyn James added to the scoring, with the hosts' second try, converted again by Hamer to extend the lead to 14 points.
The Quins spurned two goal-kicking opportunities in an attempt to force a try, but it came to no avail.
Gowerton soon added a third try through flanker Tony Burder, this time converted by Callum McKenzie.
The Quins were soon dealt a hammer blow when number eight Gareth Scourfield was forced from the field with a shoulder injury.
Gowerton, who have achieved try bonus points in all their matches this season, soon got their fourth when once again Burder touched down near the posts after a barnstorming run, which was once again converted by Hamer.
A quick tap penalty just before the break ended with a try for hooker John Rees, ably converted by Hamer.
With the Quins 35 points adrift at the break, it looked ominous for the second half.
It took the home side just five minutes to score their sixth try through Burder, who forced his way over to complete his hat-trick, with Hamer chipping over the conversion.
The Quins, with flanker Alex Pierce once again in outstanding form and with Barry Parsons putting in an an enormous amount of work, stuck to their task admirably.
Some fine breaks by Adi John, Lewis Davies and Lee Scourfield ended in no reward for the Quins, who with a bit more luck could have added a few tries themselves.
John Rees and number eight Chris James rounded off the scoring for Gowerton, with Hamer converting both to keep his 100 per cent success rate with the boot.
The Quins now have two home games to come, with Penygroes visiting Bierspool on December 29, followed by the local derby against Pembroke on January 5, to get their season back on track.
