New Hedges Saundersfoot United FC have given a boost to a Pembrokeshire charity, afer hosting a memorable fundraising evening, bringing the community together for a night of football stories, laughter and heartfelt generosity.

The fundraising evening held last summer on June 28 at the seaside village’s Regency Hall venue, featured special guest Bruce Grobbelaar, former Liverpool FC goalkeeper, whose engaging stories and reflections captivated everyone in the room.

Guests thoroughly enjoyed the evening, with Bruce’s entertaining and insightful talk creating a fantastic atmosphere throughout.

The event was organised by Stuart McLaren and Simon Brace from the football club, whose hard work ensured its success.

Thanks to the incredible support of those who attended, an impressive £2,000 was raised on the night.

“This year’s event was organised in memory of Gareth Allen, a much‑loved former player of the club who sadly passed away in 2023. We wanted to honour Gareth and show our appreciation for the care he received by donating the proceeds to Ward 10 at Withybush Hospital.”

This was shared between two important causes, with £1,000 donated to the Paul Sartori Foundation and £1,000 to Ward 10 at Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest.

The fundraiser was held in memory of Gareth Allen, a valued member of the club and brother-in-law of organiser Simon Brace.

Gareth received care from the Paul Sartori Foundation, making the cause especially meaningful to those involved.

The Paul Sartori Foundation provides a range of services to support people with life-limiting illness, enabling them to remain in the comfort of their own homes. This includes hands-on nursing care, respite support, equipment loans, complementary therapy, and bereavement support for families.
