A serious injury to West Dragons goalkeeper Andrew Mathias resulted in the game being abandoned after 55 minutes. Following a collision with a Narberth attacker, Mathias is thought to have sustained a broken jaw along with losing some teeth and everybody would like to wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.
In the first half, it was the Dragons who made it clear that they had not come to Jesse Road to make up the numbers and were soon ahead after a mistake in the Narberth defence set up Bradley Barrett to fire the visitors ahead.
In very windy and muddy conditions, Narberth did have chances through Matthew Price, Rob Shipton and Tony Evans, but all failed to hit the target!
Narberth started the second half with the wind behind them and were starting to put the Dragons under pressure before the unfortunate injury on 55 minutes.
The result does not stand. Narberth will finish the year on top of Pembrokeshire League Division One, with current champions Hakin United a point behind with a game in hand.
Narberth payer/manager Matthew Price said: "It has been an excellent first half of the season, now the hard work begins."
Narberth will play Goodwick United away on Saturday, January 4, in their next league game.
Narberth: John Durbridge, Richard Henton, Kyle Quartermaine, Jamie Fleig, Simon Cole, Aled Thomas, Justin Blewitt, Adi Jones, Rob Shipton, Matthew Price, Tony Evans. Subs: Jordan Williams, Iestyn Scourfield, Marc Hughes.
