Narberth 43 pts. Bridgend Ath. 5
Five glorious second half tries, four of which were converted by Stuart Morris, took this game away from a committed Bridgend Athletic team and gave the Otters an extension of their lead at the top of the Division One West table.
All this was after a fairly even first half when a last minute converted try before the interval gave Narberth a half-time lead.
Both fullback Jonathan Morgan and winger Matthew Davies came close to scoring in the early stages and both would have scored if they had not slipped on a wet strip about 10 yards from the Athletic line.
Outside-half Stuart Morris gave Narberth a deserved lead with a penalty kick after 12 minutes, before Athletic came into their own.
Their endeavours were rewarded by an unconverted try for influential flanker and captain, Matthew Hillman.
With the last move before the half-time pep talk, Stuart Morris made a well-judged chip inside the visitors' 22 up towards the right corner flag and Otters fullback Jonathan Morgan won the race for the touchdown.
Stuart Morris converted the try which he had started.
In the second half, some delightful running rugby opened up gaps in the Athletic defence for the Narberth backs to exploit.
Matthew Davies again brought his own brand of magic into play and secured an excellent hat-trick as a result.
Winger Nick Jones touched down for a try in the right corner and for good measure centre and captain Steve Martin scored a try in the left corner, before the third and last try scored by Matthew Davies.
Stuart Morris was on fire with his place kicking and converted from everywhere to add the points to five of the six Narberth tries scored in this match.
Quite naturally, director of rugby Jonathan Dodd was in jubilant mode after the match, but kept emphasising the team performance over the individual efforts of the players.
He said: "We were very pleased to pick up where we left off. It is always difficult to know what will happen following a break of thee weeks and all of the boys put their hands up in this match.
"Bridgend Athletic are always tough opponents as they play some good rugby, but it was nice to see us strengthen our position at the top of the table."
Winger Matthew Davies was nominated as man of the match by the Molson Coors Balcony Suite match sponsors, the Narberth and Whitland Round Table.
The Otters Holt match sponsors were the club's main sponsors, G D Harries and Sons. The match ball sponsors were the Pwll Trap Boys.
Although Matthew Davies has been revitalised since his return to the team - despite a short break playing football for Prendergast Villa - another player making key contributions to the team is fly-half Stuart Morris,
It took a little time for him to bed down, but he has become more used to playing with his new team-mates, so that apart from his place kicking, he gets the backline going and is playing a key role in the recent success of the team.
Narberth fielded: Jonathan Morgan, Nick Jones (Will Lewis), Steve Martin, capt., Richard Davies, Matthew Davies, Stuart Morris, Adrian Killa, Sean Lloyd, Dan Smith (Gareth Jones), Lewis Davies (Tom Slater), Chris James, Alex Jenkins, Gareth Bateman (Timoci Kaumaitotoya) Steffan Phillips and Wayne Williams.
Narberth Ath. nil Whitland Wanderers 22 pts.
Leading by 10 points at the interval, the Wanderers made sure of winning this local derby in the Carmarthen Tyres League by adding two further tries in the second half, in addition to the brace scored in the first half.
Prop Lee Williams and centre Steve Aston put the visitors ahead before the break, with two unconverted tries.
In the second half, Lee Williams added another and fly-half Jonathan Thomas got in on the act with a try which he converted himself.
Narberth Athletic were unable to score in reply.
