After last weekend's magnificent and somewhat unexpected 7-0 win over Lamphey, Kilgetty would have been hoping for better weather in the week leading up to their scheduled match against Prendergast Villa in order to maintain their momentum; unfortunately the weather listens to no man and constant rain made their pitch unplayable leading to a postponement of the game.

The same fate befell Pendine who were at home to Broad Haven and Narberth seconds too, who were due to entertain Pembroke Boro. Still, not all was lost in the land of Pembrokeshire football as the majority of games were able to go ahead.

While Hakin were being beaten at home against Pennar Robins and in all honesty surrendering the league title to Merlins Bridge, a few miles up the road, Milford United were playing host to Narberth and it was an away victory there also as the Bluebirds won 2-1.

On a surface that Steve Jones described as 'superb', the visitors were able to express themselves from the start and they certainly began with a positive intent. Ashley Williams unleashed a 30-yard pile driver that slammed off the post, while Richie Adams, Morgan Preece and Tony Evans all went close and this, within the first 10 minutes of the game.

They finally broke the deadlock when Adams went on a mazy run, only to be felled in the box. Not hurt by this reckless challenge, he got up, dusted himself down and converted from the spot.

Soon after and it was all-square as a defensive lapse allowed the home side to equalise and finish the half strongly.

They began the second in the same fashion, putting Narberth under the cosh, and only a strong defensive effort allowed them to nullify any home team attacks.

Finally gathering composure, Peter Fearne's team began to take hold of the game as their superior fitness told. Marc Hughes came on as sub and made an immediate impression by delivering a magnificent long pass to Preece whose cross found Williams who finished the move off.

It was the decisive moment of the match, with Steve Jones saying the result was no more than the team deserved.

"It was a very hard fought win to be honest. Even though they are bottom of the league, they are a tough team to beat, especially at home, but we're developing into a tough team of our own and we're delighted to come away with the points."

At first glance, Tenby's 0-0 draw away at Goodwick could be perceived as being a good result. After all, it's never an easy place to go; they are a good side and can match it with the best of them.

Sadly, though, given the home side were short of players on the morning of the match, the Seasiders really could have got more from it.

Carew got the most from their home game against Camrose as they secured all three points on offer, one for every goal they scored without reply.

James Buckle made an immediate impression on his return to the club last week and went one better this weekend as he scored twice to complement James Hinchliffe's earlier strike in a comprehensive 3-0 win.

Saundersfoot Sports' promotion bid was skewed a little after they travelled to Lamphey and lost. With Kilgetty hammering the hosts last week, the Sports would have been confident of doing the same, yet they came up against a motivated side hell bent on responding to that result.

A less than impressive first half showing resulted in the teams entering the break goalless, but the home side quickly went ahead in the second as they scored twice within two minutes.

Dan Bates pulled one back soon after, but it wasn't enough to allow the visitors back in. Suffice to say, away team manager Sam Coleman wasn't happy.

"We were extremely poor to be honest and need to improve if we are going to challenge for promotion. We've got all the top teams coming up this month, so it's going to be a busy and challenging month for us."

St Clears won again to maintain their unbeaten record in the league, although manager Craig Weston wasn't entirely happy with the fact they conceded three goals, despite scoring six of their own.

With a big month coming up in the West Wales Cup, semi-final of the Third Division Cup and league games against the division's top teams, he wants to see his side shore up a bit defensively in order to preserve their magnificent form.

A win is a win, however, and if that wasn't cause for celebration, then the fact that Nick Squire's opener was the team's 100th goal in all competitions this year was. Throw in the fact that Sean Seymour-Davies scored four and in the process became the fifth player in the team to do so in a single game this season and it's proof, if any were needed, that this is a team playing for each other in a way that would have the purists purring with delight.

Seymour-Davies added the second, third and fourth for the team, all before the interval, with the home side scoring one, making it 4-1 at the break, although it helped that the slope was in their favour.

That was reversed in the second and the home side made their height advantage count as they scored two goals in the first five minutes of the half, putting the Saints under pressure.

Tony Swift gave his side some breathing space after 20 minutes, before Seymour-Davies added the sixth with 10 to go to ensure they went home with the points.

"At half-time, I thought we were going to be safe, but fair play, they came back well at us in the second," said a relieved Weston. "We need to tighten up, though, if we're going to keep our unbeaten run going as we've got a big month coming up against some good sides."

Lawrenny gained a good result at Pennar Robins' reserves as they drew 2-2, while Tenby seconds beat Clarbeston Road seconds 5-3 at the Clicketts.

Sam Christopher led the way with a hat-trick, with Tom Baker and Mo Safin getting the others.

St. Florence beat Cosheston Cougars 1-0 away from home, with Brett Evans getting the all-important strike, while Carew gained the upper hand at Saundersfoot, winning 4-2.

Jamie Morgan and Grant Hardy scored for the home side, but goals from Tom Arthur, Alex Bailey, Tom Woolford and Carl Wainwright secured victory for the visitors.

Lawrenny seconds' home tie against Neyland seconds was postponed, but Manorbier United seconds were able to take to the field at Haverfordwest Cricket Club and secured a draw in the process. The final score read 1-1, with Mike Brown scoring for the visitors.

It wasn't such a good afternoon for St. Clears seconds, however, as they slumped to a 7-3 home defeat against Kilgetty seconds.

Simon Bancroft continued his prolific record with a brace, while Aled Snelling added the other, but two goals apiece from Mike Beynon, Josh Bevan and James Franklin ensured the points went back to Kingsmoor, with Dean Morgan being the odd man out on the scoresheet as he could only manage a solitary strike against the shell-shocked home side.
