This month's outing was to the rolling parkland of Derllys Court, near Carmarthen, a venue which attracted 32 of our members to enjoy the challenge (writes JJ).

A warm welcome was given to three new participants, Byron Brains Morgan, David Ivories Morgan and Tony Fag Ashe; hope you will continue with your support.

With 10 groups, eight threes and two fours, we were fortunate to have the use of two tee-off points, saving a lot of time. First off were Mark Woody Wood, Wynne Abacus Richards and Glyn Semi-colon Jones. All three had good scores, setting a target to aim for.

The trio of Byron Brains Morgan, Ed The Beast Pritchard and Simon Swans Davies played well, but a few missed putts let them down.

Third group away, Trevor Santa Lewis, Barry Gravel Avery and Darrell Smoothie Jones set a hot pace and became the team to beat, having a combined total of 99.

Next group, Kelvin Curtains Boughey, Tony Fag Ashe and John The Book Williams all reached 30 points, The Book having his best round ever.

The fifth team were Rod Trainer Haynes, Paul Value Marsden and Shaun Chatterbox Taylor. The Trainer had a good round, but it was not good enough to push the leaders.

Next away were Mick Spoonie Hamilton - welcome back after knee surgery - Peter Bandit Hughes and Steve Araf Jones. A good group, but Spoonie's lack of practise kept their total to 95.

Following them were Anthony Wiseguy Ryan, John Scribe James and Terry Harpo Harvey. Not having played for several months, Harpo set off at some pace, notching up 20 points on the front nine; the other two were not far behind, overtaking Harpo on the back nine and finishing with a total of 105.

Group eight was Keith Director Loverston, Roger Analyst Handcock and John Spindles Hargrave. A steady round, two 30-plus scores, but a total under 90.

First of the foursomes were John Swinger Evans, Dave Ivories Morgan, John Homer Perrott and Barry Chippy Wood. With a total of 103, they had high hopes for the team prize, Homer having one of his better rounds.

Lastly we had Martin FCUK Davies, Pat Anon King, Steve Eleanor Rigby and Mark Skids Brindley. With only one player passing 30 points, it was a disappointing round, with a wooden spoon heading for one of them!

After an excellent meal and a pint or two, the presentation began. For the individual prize, two players tied on 38 points, but on countback the winner was Trevor Santa Lewis. In second place was Peter Bandit Hughes - well done both of you. Third place was also decided on count-back, Barry Chippy Wood taking it from John Scribe James, both on 37 pts.

Longest drive was won by Darrell Smoothie Jones - we can't keep him away from the prizes! Nearest the pin went to Anthony Wiseguy Ryan. The OAP winner was John Scribe James; over twenty handicap winner was Anthony Wiseguy Ryan. With 21 pts, Mark Skids Brindley took the wooden spoon.

The team prize went to Wiseguy, Scribe and Harpo, in second place were Swinger, Chippy, Homer and Ivories (his score not counting).

The yellow ball challenge was won by Woody, Abacus and Semi-colon - four yellow balls survived. Four players registered 2s, Roger Analyst Handcock, John Spindles Hargrave, Martin FCUK Davies and Steve Eleanor Rigby.

Next month's venue is Haverfordwest, 11 am tee-off on Wednesday, May 9.
