Haverfordwest 2nds 128-9 and 155-7beat Cresselly seconds 113-8 and 141-5 (by 29 runs)

Tomorrow (Saturday), Cresselly will take on Haverfordwest in the Harrison-Allen Bowl in a final that is too close to call as to who will come out on top, yet if the game is anything as entertaining as the one played out between the teams' respective second sides last Sunday in the Alec Colley final, it will be one to savour. The scoreline suggests Haverfordwest's win by 29 runs was a comfortable one and it is true to say they deserved to lift the trophy, given they led by 15 runs at the interval, yet one player proved to be the difference between the sides on the day with an epic second innings knock that had spectators gazing on in awe. In Haverfordwest's first innings, Kashif Ijaz only scored four and vowed to avenge this return when his chance came to bat the second time around. He did that and more. In a thrilling display of stroke making, the Pakistani-born doctor at Withybush Hospital smashed the ball around the park with 7x4s and 8x6s and lost a few balls in the process; helping his side to 155-7, an increase of 27 runs over their first innings score of 128-9 when Avron Roulstone struck 36 and Dan Cole 29. Sam Harts bowled well for Cresselly then, taking 4-32, while Steve Thomas and Matthew Lewis took a brace apiece. When Cresselly came to bat, they could only muster 113-8 as Adam Chandler showed his quality with 33 and Scott Arthur hit 32 after Roulstone, Nigel Morgan and James Morris all took two wickets. Then came the fireworks. No bowler was safe when Ijaz was on strike, with Thomas conceding 47 runs whilst taking two wickets, although Chandler was less profligate taking 2-11. With such a monumental target to reach, Cresselly required an innings of substance and Chandler provided it, hitting 63 not out with 5x4 and 2x6, while Neal Williams hit 37, but their efforts weren't enough as Morgan again took wickets with Roulstone, Simon Williams and James Morris all taking one apiece.
