Over 200 young hockey players took to the pitch last week for an annual Pembrokeshire primary schools hockey competition.
Twenty-two teams competed in the qualifying rounds of the Pembrokeshire 2012 Hockey Activate tournament, which was organised by Sport Pembrokeshire - the sports development arm of Pembrokeshire County Council - along with Hockey Wales.
In the north pool, eight teams competed at Fishguard's astro turf pitch last Friday, with Maenclochog and Llanychllwydog qualifying for the Pembrokeshire zone final.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning, eight teams competed at Sir Thomas Picton School in one of two south pool rounds, with Brynconnin and Narberth qualifying.
In the afternoon, another six teams competed against each other, with St. Teilo's and Prendergast qualifying for the final.
Angela Miles, hockey development officer for Sport Pembrokeshire, said she was delighted at the record 22-team turn out, with Broad Haven, Tenby Junior, Puncheston and St. Aidan's competing in the event for the first time.
"The standard of hockey played in all the qualifying contests was extremely high and I look forward to the Pembrokeshire zone final later this month," she said.
The final will be played at Fishguard ATP today (Friday) and the winning team will progress to the Welsh finals to be held in Newtown on March 30.
