Greenhill pupil Ollie Wheeler who plays for Swansea City Hockey Club, having recently played in the South Wales trials, was selected to represent South Wales Hockey at U14s and last weekend travelled to Newtown to play North Wales.

Hitting the post in the first five minutes, Ollie looked on form and it was not long before he set up the first goal for Matt Pinney (Llan & Caerphilly).

In the second half, Ollie slotted in a short corner to make it 2-0 and Rhys Bradshaw (Bridgend) scored South Wales' third to make it 3-0.

North Wales came back and scored from a goalmouth melee and a penalty stroke to bring the score to 3-2.

Ollie widened the gap when he 'hammered' home a first-time shot from a through ball that he picked up in the North Wales 'D' to make it 4 - 2.

Ollie had several further chances, hitting the post again with a 'tomahawk' shot and, just before the end of the game, he broke from inside his half, running 50 yards, leaving the opposition in his 'wake' to find himself one-on-one with the 'keeper, but his shot was well saved by the 'keeper, who had an outstanding afternoon.

Final score: South Wales 4 North Wales 2.
