HEATHERTON O60s 96 BRO MYRDDIN, CARMARTHEN 58
Last week, Heatherton Over 60s played at home in their last match of the winter indoor season and were looking for their third win on the trot in the Veterans Western Division of the Welsh League.
On rink one, the all farmers rink, with stadium owner Hugh Davies at lead and in excellent form, supported by Ken, Tudor and skip Henry John, faced Terry West's four, including Tony Brown (of Tenby) and at 10 ends were 12-4 up. They then won seven of the last 11 ends, outplaying their opponents to win by 33 shots to 12.
Rink two had J. Baggot's rink facing the ebullient Emilio Garcia's quartet. The latter was 10-6 up halfway through and, despite dropping a six count on one end, still managed to win 20-16.
Rink three saw skip Terry Howells's consistent rink facing the sound and steady John Rees's four. After 10 ends, Terry's rink had played themselves into a 14-4 lead, but only just maintained the initiative to win 21-16.
Last but not least, rink four saw Mal Evans without two of his regulars, but he was well supported by Bob, Doug and Roy Pring against C. Griffiths's four. It was close at 10 ends, being 8-7 to Heatherton, but Mal's rink then won nine of the last 11 ends to ease to a 26 shots to 10 victory.
Heatherton 12 points, Carmarthen two points.
