Tenby Golf Club recently embarked on its annual pilgrimage to Swansea where they were scheduled to play matches against two clubs based on The Gower.
The group was smaller than in previous years. Tenby GC Captain, Mick Seal, also acted as the minibus driver!
On the Saturday, the match was at Langland Bay GC. The course is situated between Langland and Caswell Bays and there are extensive sea views from many holes.
The weather was glorious but this did not inspire the visitors who went down by six games to one.
Tenby’s only winners were Darren Thomas and Dave Henry who slotted a curly 15ft putt on the 18th green for victory.
The Sunday match was at Pennard GC, a tough course above Three Cliffs Bay. Unfortunately, as has happened at least twice in previous years, the sea mist thickened and the match had to be abandoned.
Only two groups had teed off. Captain Mick was one up after three holesand the other game was all square. Consequently, Mick is claiming a Tenby win over Pennard!
Both the Swansea clubs will be visiting Tenby in late summer.
Aggregate scores over the two matches will decide the trophy winners –the Steve Bond Cup for Langland Bay and the Loz Phillips Memorial Cup for Pennard.
