With World Cup fever hotting up, an official football ‘Fan Zone’ to get behind Wales’ first campaign since 1958 has been announced to be held in Tenby.

Those not travelling to Qatar will be able to enjoy some winter soccer by the seaside with the fan zone to be hosted at the De Valence Pavilion venue located on Upper Frog Street over three separate days, showing all of Wales’ three group stage fixtures against USA, Iran...and old foes England - over the following dates November 21, November 25 and November 29 respectively - on a cinema sized screen.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards local grass roots football.

Pembrokeshire’s Joe Allen a big advocated of local grass roots football, who grew up in Narberth and played as a youngster for Tenby, will be hoping to recover from injury to make it into Rob Page’s squad.

This week Pembrokeshire artist Lloyd the Graffiti painted the first in a series of murals for Mentrau Iaith Cymru (in partnership with @graffiticymraeg) - celebrating Wales’ men’s team heading to the World Cup and promoting Welsh language at the same time - on the side of the Farmers Arms Inn establishment in Narberth, starting with ‘Pembrokeshire legend’ Joe Allen!

Local football fans Will, Connor, Owen and Spencer (also known as Y Wal Goch Tenby) say they are delighted to present Pembrokeshire's only official fan zone for the World Cup campaign.

“Myself and a few friends have organised an official fan zone for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in association with the Welsh Football Association (FAW) and Gwyl Cymru,” said Will.

“We hope to bring the community together and get young boys and girls involved in their first World Cup and Wales’ first campaign in nearly 70 years!

“We will have some great pre-match entertainment with local DJs playing some iconic Welsh tunes.

“There will be a range of beers, ciders, soft drinks and more available at the bar, with tables and seating available on a first come first serve basis.”

With matches kicking off at variable times for the World Cup held in Qatar, for two of Wales’ matches (vs USA on Monday, November 21 and against England on Tuesday, November 29) doors at the venue will open from 5 pm, with both nights running until 11 pm.

For the second game in the group on Friday, November 25, when Wales will take on Iran (with a kick-off time of 10 am) doors will open from 9 am until 5 pm - with post match entertainment and following fixtures also shown on the big screen.

Please not under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
