Perfect conditions again greeted the 19th annual Tenby Round Table Soccer Sevens, sponsored by Andrew Price.

Forty-two teams from around the county and as far as Cardiff, Swansea and Carmarthenshire battled for the trophies in three age groups, Under 8s, 10s and 12s. The format was two pools of seven teams, in each age group, with the top two teams progressing to the semi-finals and the winners of these contesting the finals.

After all the pool games had been played, the four teams through to the Under 8s semi-finals were Pennar Robins, Hakin United, Neyland and Seaside, of Llanelli. The first semi-final saw Pennar Robins beat Hakin United by a single goal. The second semi was won by the Neyland who beat Seaside by two goals to nil. The final saw Neyland overcome stiff resistance from the Robins by two goals to one. The player of the final, picked by the referee, was the Neyland’s Leo Power.

The Under 10s tournament was equally as exciting, with Prendergast Villa, Tenby 10s, Ely Rangers and Carmarthen Stars ‘A’ all progressing to the semi-finals. The first semi was between Carmarthen Stars ‘A’ and Prendergast Villa, which saw the Stars go through 2-1, while the second semi-final between Tenby 10s and Ely Rangers was very one side with the host team winning by four goals to nil. The final of this group was very close with Tenby 10s just edging out Carmarthen Stars by a solidary goal. Tenby won every game in the Tournament without conceding a goal. The player of this final, again picked by the referee, was Iori Badham, of Tenby.

Both the Under 12s semi-finals produced excellent football and the ties were only decided in the last few minutes of each match. Neyland beat Prendergast Villa 4-3 on penalties, after drawing 2-2 in normal time, while, in the other semi-final saw Tenby 12s get the better of Clarbeston Road by a single goal. However, Tenby saved their best until last and romped home in the final by four goals to nil. The player of the final was Charlie Phillips of Lampeter, as selected by the referee.

All the trophies, which were sponsored by Andrew Price, were presented to the winners, runners-up and player of the final by Jolyon Craig, from Tenby Round Table.
