Tenby U9s 11

Clarbeston Road Under 9s 2

On Saturday, Tenby hosted Clarbeston Road at a changed venue in Penally for the start of the December festivities.

With the match of eight-a-side and the offering of a large pitch, it gave the home side the opportunity to implement the passing style which the coaches desire.

The Seasiders have dominated a lot of games this season, with this game being no different. The home side used the expansive pitch to their advantage, with the lads playing wide and creating lots of space for each other to move and pass into.

Tenby scored goals at regular intervals throughout the match, with six different scorers, being Dylan (3), Evan, Sam, Ethan Wright (2), George (2) and Ethan Lewis (2).

It is not always about how many goals you score, but the skills that these players develop at their young age. From a coaches and parents perspective, it is so pleasing to observe that every single boy from the home side looks comfortable with the ball at their feet.

Tenby’s man of the match without any doubt whatsoever was Thomas Strong, who was absolutely outstanding as a big ‘Strong’ centre half. Thomas highlighted so much composure on the ball, showing good distribution. Thomas’s tackling and positional awareness was simply exemplary; none of the Clarby Road players got the better of him.

The referee was a bit frightened of the Seasiders’ Dylan, as he was worried that if Dylan got angry, he may turn into the ‘Incredible Hulk’. Dylan’s hair was green throughout the game, so the referee was always looking for ‘Sine’s of change at this ‘Marvel’lous character!’

Great game to watch for Tenby’s barmy army. Mr. Rapi, we should really have some Christmas carols from the terraces! (Thanks for keeping an eye on the scoreboard and scorers).

Team: Jesse Craig, Louis Rapi, Thomas Strong, Bailey Joyce, Sam Hughes, Dylan Sine, Evan Coleman, Lucas Rhys-Davies, Arlo Jones, Ethan Lewis, Ethan Wright, George Morgan.
