The first round of the West Wales Football Association Intermediate Cup got under way over the weekend which is traditionally a time when clubs enjoy being drawn away from home in order for them to experience a road trip.
It matters not if you’re drawn away to a Swansea based team with an obscure name, all that matters if you have a chance to bond with your mates on unfamiliar territory.
Carew didn’t have the chance to enjoy a trip on the road as they were drawn home with North End and came out 5-1 winners, while Pennar Robins and Angle travelled to Clydach Sports and Birchgrove Colts, respectively.
Lamphey entertained Bancffosfelen and had no issues against the visitors as they racked up a comprehensive 7-1 win, while St Clears had a miserable afternoon at home, losing 7-0 to Goodwick United.
Better news for Narberth, however, after they completely trounced CP Suburbs 10-0.
Dafydd Wright finished with three, as did Chris Brown, while Ben John and Harry Ryan both finished with a brace.
In league action, Hundleton secured a narrow 1-0 win over Letterston in division two thanks to an own goal by the home team, while Kilgetty won by the same margin at St. Ishmaels as Henry Lawrence grabbed their only goal.
Colin Batley’s goal was the only highlight for St. Florence as they went down 7-1 at Clarbeston Road, while Pennar Robins’ seconds won 2-0 at Goodwick United seconds after Cameron Brunt and Shaun Donaghue scored, the latter finding the back of the net for the first time after finishing the Cardiff half marathon recently.
Home advantage counted for little for Pendine after they lost 3-1 against Narberth seconds, while there was a fabulous game at West Dragons seconds after they drew 3-3 with Carew seconds.
Angle seconds had a torrid afternoon at home to Broad Haven seconds after they lost 16-0 but it was a good day for Kilgetty after their seconds beat St. Ishmaels’ stiffs 6-2.
Steve Davies was the chief destroyer of the visitors after he scored four, the other goals coming from Ben Harris and Duanne Rossiter.
In the derby between Monkton Swifts seconds and Lamphey seconds, honours went with the hosts after the Stags were defeated 6-1.
James Aires scored for Lamphey, but two goals apiece from Liam Butland and Luke Henry, together with solitary strikes from Rhys Davies and Jordan Kilby, ensured a win for the home team.
Pennar Robins’ thirds lost 4-1 at home to Fishguard Sports’ seconds, with St. Clears’ seconds drawing 3-3 at Solva thanks to goals from Jamie Thomas and a Joe Gouldingay brace.
In division five, Jason Evans scored twice and Rhys Allison once as Pembroke Boro seconds won 3-2 at Camrose, while goals from Harry Thomas and Liam Woodford couldn’t prevent Lawrenny seconds from losing 5-2 at Milford United thirds.
Ethan Shapcott and Mark Flaherty were the men to score for Carew thirds in their 3-0 win over Letterston, with the latter finishing with a well-taken brace.
