The Christmas break is always a good indication of where teams can finish the season. Those at the top have a good chance of staying there and those at the bottom… well it doesn’t bear thinking about.

It also provides the chance for teams to refresh, come back stronger and improve, especially if they start the New Year well.

This was definitely the case for Angle as they began 2017 in style with a 3-1 home win over Johnston in a match sponsored by Haydn Phillips. Connor Willis scored the hosts’ first goal of the New Year, with Jake Seaton and Tom Grimwood adding the others.

Pennar Robins’ home match with Hakin was postponed as was Monkton Swifts’ clash at home against Carew.

Lamphey took to the field, however, although a trip to the Racecourse in Haverfordwest proved a step too far as they lost 7-3 against a team vying for league honours. Ross Fortune, Billy Davies and Josh Sture scored for the visitors.

In the eagerly-awaited derby clash between Narberth and Tenby, victory went back with the Seasiders as they beat the Bluebirds 7-1. Ben John scored Narberth’s only goal, but a hat-trick from Sam Christopher and goals apiece from Jack Christopher, Jerome Mansbridge, Curtis Hurlow and Josh Grotta sealed the deal for the visitors.

In division two, Saundersfoot Sports made a winning start to the year after a 2-1 victory at Herbrandston. Jake Webster scored both for the visitors, while the match between Lawrenny and Hundleton finished in a 2-2 draw. Dean Morris and Owen James scored for Lawrenny, while Joe Buckle and Aaron Goldsmith netted for the away team.

St. Clears secured a much needed three points with a 4-2 win at Solva following goals by Scott Page, Johnny Thomas, Jason Baxter and Josh Jones.

Games in division three were split between cups and league and in the first round of the cup, Pendine went out after losing 3-1 at Llangwm, while the game between Pennar seconds and Camrose was postponed.

In round two, Kilgetty’s clash with Milford United seconds was also postponed.

In the league, Manorbier United beat Narberth seconds 3-1 following a brace by Mike Ryder and one from James Hall. Jordan Thomas scored for the Bluebirds.

In division four, Pennar Robins’ thirds beat Lamphey seconds 2-1. Jamie Aries scored for the Stags, but a brace from Jack Sullivan ensured the points went back to Bush Camp.

Pembroke Boro hammered Solva seconds 8-2, with Phil John scoring three and Jordan Wright and Paul Sharp two apiece. Carl Morris snared the other.

Meanwhile, it was all-square between St. Clears’ seconds and Fishguard Sports’ seconds after Will Evans scored twice for the Saints.

Finally, in division five, Lawrenny seconds beat Camrose seconds 3-2, Carew thirds drew 2-2 with Llangwm seconds after goals by Dario Rossi and Adam Muskett, while Hundleton seconds beat Kilgetty seconds 4-2. Jack Blunsden scored twice for the hosts, with Connor Hay sliding in for the other.

Pembroke Boro seconds, meanwhile, lost 7-1 at Letterston seconds, with Rhys Allison scoring their only goal.

The game between Milford Athletic seconds and Monkton Swifts’ seconds was postponed.
