Local league and cup action made way for the first round of the Tony Nackonecznyj Insurance Brokers WWFA Intermediate Cup over the weekend, with the usual mix of shocks and high scores doing the rounds.

It was a good day for Narberth as the Bluebirds travelled away to Alltwen in the Swansea Valley to take on the home side and they came away with a fabulous 10-1 win. Callum O’Connell led the way with five goals and Tony Evans wasn’t far behind having scored four. Ben John netted the other.

A good day for Kilgetty, too, as they came away from Llangennech with a 5-3 win, while St. Clears’ trip to South Gower ended in an agonising 2-1 defeat for the Saints.

Two goals by talented youngster Max Brindley and one for Shaun Whitfield were enough for Carew to a return to winning ways with a 3-0 home victory over Cilfrew Rovers, while it was a derby clash at Lamphey and the home team prevailed. St Florence were the visitors to the home of the Stags, with Lamphey ending up 6-2 winners. Phil Evans grabbed both for the away team, while Billy Davies starred for the hosts by hitting four goals. The others were from Mike Davies and Nathan Ferrier.

Biggest win of the day went to Pennar Robins with CP Suburbs the visitors to Bush Camp. The home team ended up winning 16-0 to send the Llanelli-based side packing with their tails between their legs.

Angle, meanwhile, were at Waunarlwydd and they lost a thrilling encounter 6-4.

Some league matches did take place, however, and in division one, Tenby travelled to Goodwick and earned a 2-2 draw. Sam Christopher and Darryl Mansbridge netted for the away team as the Seasiders secured their second draw of the season.

In division two, Hundleton beat Hakin United seconds 6-4, while Lawrenny lost 5-2 at Solva, with the Gavenyards’ goals coming from Dean Morris and Owen James.

In division three, Narberth seconds ensured it was a good day for the club after they beat Johnston seconds 5-1 at home. McCauley Connor bagged the first, before Tom Jones, Jack Pallas, Dafydd Wright, Alan Phillips and Ben Sharp all found the back of the net.

Pendine won, too, with the Gulls beating Carew seconds 2-1. Kieron Lewis and Paul Langdon both scored for the hosts, while Chris Tooze scored for Carew.

Manorbier United went down 5-1 at home to Broad Haven, while Pennar Robins’ seconds travelled to Milford United seconds and won 2-0.

In division four, Steve Trivett shows no signs of slowing down despite his veteran status, with the St. Clears’ stalwart scoring again to help the hosts bag a 4-1 win over Solva seconds. He wasn’t the star of the show, however, as that accolade went to Joe Gouldingay for his fine hat-trick.

The game between Angle seconds and Pennar Robins’ thirds was postponed, while Lamphey seconds went to Herbrandston seconds and recorded a fine 3-2 win following two goals by Richard Evans and one from Jonny Goodrick.

Phil John scored both goals for Pembroke Boro in their 2-1 win over St. Ishmaels’ seconds.

Meanwhile, in division five, Kilgetty seconds beat Hundleton seconds 4-1 after goals from Josh Lewis, Jac Walters, Richie Gwyther and Carl Gwyther. Hundleton’s goal; was scored by Connor Hay.

The game between Carew thirds and Llangwm seconds was abandoned after 10 minutes following a serious injury to home player Ben Field Thomas, with the Pembrokeshire footballing fraternity wishing him a speedy recovery.

Lawrenny seconds, meanwhile, had a torrid afternoon at Letterston seconds, losing 7-0.

Goals by Steffan Sandford and Sean Edmondson were not enough to prevent Pembroke Boro seconds from going down 4-2 at Milford Athletic reserves, while Monkton Swifts’ seconds had a day to remember, winning 9-0 at home to Camrose’s seconds.
