Kilgetty are out of this year’s Senior Cup after losing in round two of the competition. The Kingsmoor outfit travelled to Prendergast Villa, who ply their trade a division above the visitors, and this extra bit of quality told in the end, with Villa running out 3-0 winners.
Defeat for Carew, too, after a 5-1 loss at home to current holders Goodwick United. Nielson Cole managed to scrape one past the visiting defence, but overall they were too strong on the day.
Tenby travelled to Hakin United and suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat after Nicky Woodrow hit them for a hat-trick, leading the Seasiders to question on Twitter whether the Vikings’ hitman is the best all-round striker ever in Pembrokeshire football.
He may be on current form, but former Hakin star Paul Jones would run him close, as would many other past players.
Pembroke Boro had the short trip to make to Monkton Swifts, but their return back to base would have felt a bit longer after losing 7-1. Phil John scored for the visitors, but two each for Dan Scourfield, Ben Adams and Tom Powell, followed by one by Martin Carroll, allowed the Swifts to sail seamlessly into the next round.
Lawrenny were at Solva and gave a good account of themselves, despite losing 5-3. An own goal and scores from Owen James and Phil Cole allowed Lawrenny a sniff of a win, but Solva pulled clear.
At West Dragons, Lamphey pushed the highly fancied side close, losing 3-2, with goals by Billy Davies and Daniel Kitts.
In league action, Narberth were away to Neyland in division one and came away with nothing following a 4-0 defeat after Justin Harding scored hat-trick, while Angle had a fabulous day at Johnston, winning 7-4. Connor Willis scored three for the visitors, with the others coming from Gavin Wickland, Simon Lewis, Nick Willis and an own goal.
In division two, a goal by Jonathan Thomas wasn’t enough to prevent St. Clears from going down 2-1 at Goodwick United seconds.
At Merlins Bridge, Hundleton lost 3-1 to the Wizards’ seconds. Saundersfoot Sports’ game at home to Herbrandston was postponed.
Pendine were away and suffered a similar result at Clarbeston Road seconds, losing 1-0, while Chris O’Connell and Carl Jones were on target for Narberth seconds at home to Manorbier United, but they lost 7-2 as Jake Webster scored three following other goals by Charlie Patching, Mike Ryder and Chris Rooney.
Carew seconds won 2-1 at Llangwm, while the goals rained in at Pennar after the hosts beat Johnson seconds 10-1, with Phil Thompson scoring half of them. The other goals came from Wayne Brunton, who scored two, and Carl Rees, who finished with a hat-trick.
St. Clears’ seconds were involved in a fascinating game at home against St. Florence in the battle of the Saints, but it was the visitors who went marching on following a 4-3 win. Joe Gouldingay scored twice for the hosts and Thomas Howells the other, but two goals from Ashley Smith followed by one each for George Wilkins and Lewis Deforges sealed it for the away team.
In the Royal Oak, Pembroke sponsored clash between Angle seconds and Solva seconds, the honours went with the visitors after they won 5-2. Luke Wickland scored both for the hosts, but they were behind the eight ball for the majority of the game.
Two goals by Jason Evans helped Lamphey seconds to a 2-2 draw with Prendergast Villa reserves, while Pennar Robins’ thirds hit four more goals than their seconds in their 14-0 drubbing of St. Ishmaels’ seconds. Max Hunter and Paul Sly scored five each, with Jack Sullivan netting the other four.
In division five, Kilgetty seconds’ home game against Carew thirds was postponed, while Hundleton seconds entertained Broad Haven seconds and lost 4-2.
Two goals by Sam Davies in addition to one each by Josh Duckfield and Simon Cole helped Lawrenny seconds to a 4-3 win over Milford Athletic reserves, while in the derby between Pembroke Boro seconds and Monkton Swifts’ seconds, the honours went with the visitors after their 7-3 win, meaning a double victory for the Swifts over the Boro on the day. Steffan Stanford struck twice for the hosts with Sean Edmondson netting the other, while Joran Kilby hit four, Paul Lacey one and Joe Williamson two for the Swifts.
