With 350 games to make up during the month of April and some clubs facing fixture backlogs as long as their histories, the last thing the league executive or the clubs in question would have wanted was for more postponements over the weekend.

If they had prayed for nice weather with the mid-week fixtures due to start this week, then their prayers were not answered as a day or two of persistent rain leading up to Saturday saw many games postponed.

Only two games went ahead in Division One as Angle entertained Neyland and West Dragons played hosted to Hakin United.

For Angle, the day ended successfully as they won 3-1 thanks to goals from Simon Lewis, Chris Richards and Craig Brockway, while Hakin beat their opponents 9-2.

Just two games took place in Division Two also, with Saundersfoot Sports thrashing Letterston 6-1 and Solva winning 1-0 at St. Ishmaels.

For Saundersfoot, Rhys Hewson and George Taylor both finished with a brace apiece, while Dan Storer and Sam Coleman each scored once.

There were no goals in Division Three.

There was more to cheer about in Division Four as St. Clears’ seconds beat Letterston Reserves 3-1, while Pennar Robins’ Thirds lost 4-1 at Llangwm.

The game between Prendergast Villa Seconds and Pembroke Boro was abandoned after 66 minutes, while there was a great match at St. Florence as the home team hosted Angle Seconds.

The spoils went with the visitors, but not before both sides dished up a feast of brilliant football with Angle sneaking it 5-4.

For the Saints, Lewis Deforge scored the first before Dan Wood and Jamie and Adam Roberts scored, while for Angle, Nathan Ferrier struck twice alongside goals from Corey edge, Ryan Bowen and Lee Duignan.

Finally, in Division Five, Hundleton Seconds beat Llangwm Seconds 5-1, while Pembroke Boro lost to West Dragons’ Seconds 4-1, with Sam McCarthy scoring their only goal.

Mid-week Madness begins (just about)

A host of mid-week matches were postponed due to rain as the first batch of mid-week matches was scheduled to take place.

Only four were possible on Tuesday, with a derby taking place in Division Two between Hundleton and Monkton Swifts.

The Swifts came out on top winning 2-1 as Ben Nicholas and Daniel Scourfield scored, while Rhodri Davies slammed one home for the hosts.
