Following an exciting term Saundersfoot CP School girls team recently proved themselves worthy to be called Pembrokeshire champions!
At the recent Urdd football festival it was a day of sporting highs and lows through penalties.
Despite the boys not losing a game during the group stage, they lost out in the last 16 on a penalty shoot out!
It was a great experience for the boys team as it seemed the tournament was on pause as everyone watched the exciting penalty shoot out that was eventually won by Prendergast on sudden death penalties.

Great sportsmanship was shown by both teams was they consoled/wished each other well for the next round.
Both teams should be proud of their approach and sporting attitude displayed.
The boys, moved camp and went to support the girls team as they played their semi final, having won their group without losing a game and importantly not conceding a goal!
A nervous few minutes preceded the game as the boys found out the girls now faced Prendergast in the semi final.
After normal time the game was 0-0, and moved into extra time. During this two minutes of extra time Grace managed to score to get the lead and then the silky skills of Seren scored another to see Saundersfoot make the final 2-0.
In the final Saundersfoot faced Caer Elin, an even game ended in 0-0 and moved into extra time which also ended 0-0 and so Saundersfoot faced penalties once more.
What an end to the day! Five brave players stepped up – 1, Halle, 2, Grace, 3, Fallon, 4, Seren, 5, Chloe. After five penalties it was 3-3, and the shoot-out moved into sudden death. 6, Breagh...it was still a draw meaning the goal keepers now faced taking a penalty!
Libby battled her nerves to face six penalties and now had to take a penalty – score and win, miss and the penalties start again. Fortune favours the brave and her penalty eventually crossed the line following a great effort from the Caer Elin keeper, meaning Saundersfoot were crowned as Pembrokeshire champions!
The school would like to thank Taf Valley coaches for organising a separate bus for the secondary school run as the football didn’t end until 3.30 pm with the excited yet tired footballers returning to school at 5 pm.
Congratulations to all footballers who represented the school so well.
