It was no surprise to see games postponed after the heavy deluge towards the end of last week but it was certainly a surprise to see some games played.

In total, seven matches avoided a washout which was as much a tribute to the work put in by the groundsmen at those respective clubs as it was a miracle.

In the first round of the senior cup, Carew snuck through with a hard fought home win over Johnston who are having a bit of a resurgence this season after a couple of fallow years.

They gave the Rooks a run for their money but Scott Fearney was in no mood to give the visitors a passage into the next round after his brace secured a 2-1 victory.

It wasn’t such a pleasant afternoon for Lamphey however after they entertained Hakin in the second round and were promptly dumped out of the competition following an 11-1 defeat. Evan Stamford scored their only goal.

Narberth travelled to Goodwick United for their scheduled division one fixture although they didn’t get the result they wanted following a 6-0 loss while in the derby battle between Pennar and Monkton Swifts, the points went back down Bush Hill as the Swifts prevailed 3-0.

An own goal didn’t help matters for the Robins and neither did goals by Jake Seaton and the prolific Dylan Davies.

In division three, a Jack Sullivan hat-trick together with a Josh Watts goals and Craig Asparassa brace helped Pennar Robins’ seconds to a 6-1 win over Milford Athletic while St Florence went down 5-4 at Solva seconds with Jay Kennedy scoring them all for the Saints.

Finally, in division five, Carew thirds beat Letterston seconds 5-2 with Herbie Haggar netting three and Josh Lewis and James Warrell one apiece.

The remaining games were postponed.
