The 2016 season got under way last Saturday at the Memorial Park when a team captained by club captain, Richard Jones, took on a president’s team, led by Mrs. Di Davies.

Forty-eight members took part in the closely fought encounter, with Richard’s side victorious by a narrow margin of seven shots.

The match was played on a dry sunny afternoon, with a cool blustery wind which kept the temperature down; however, the heavy rain that was forecast bypassed the park.

Considering the difficult weather conditions during the last few months, the green played remarkably well for early season, which is a tribute to the loving care devoted to it by the band of green-keepers.

Following the match, players retired to the newly-refurbished clubhouse to watch the Grand National and enjoy hot dogs prepared by the loyal ladies that contribute so much to the club.

Tomorrow (Saturday), ‘The Dock’ travel across the water to the county town to take on Haverfordwest in the annual Les Davies and Peter Howells match, which is played in memory of two club stalwarts who gave so much to their respective clubs.
