For their last home game of the season, New Hedges/Saundersfoot United put their opponents to the sword, scoring 21 goals in the process!

NHS welcomed Milford Athletic to the King George playing fields on Saturday for the return of a double header and last home fixture of the season for the Seasiders.

With a fully loaded and ever able squad to choose from for this fixture, it was a chance to start with some of the more recent signings and a good time for the management to have a good look at different combinations going forward.

The flexibility of this squad has grown over the season, allowing manager Alan Brindley to rest key players Dan Bates, Jack Franklin, and Gethin Hewson to the bench together with Rhys Bates and Taine Brace given the week off completely!

With the return of captain and goalkeeper Justin Silver between the sticks and a back four bolstered with the return of Ben Gray together with the experienced stalwart treble of Sam Coleman Geoff Marsh and Stuart Maclaren.

Foundations were laid for NHS to unleash the Ukrainian Vlad Vertyporokh in the middle together with Richard Bambrick and Joe Simmon’s on the left flank.

The game started at a frantic pace with the home side setting their stall out with an opening goal within the first 5 minutes cutely finished by goal machine Adam Davidson. This was quickly followed by a second, with NHS being awarded a penalty which was cooly converted by Coleman.

Further goals appeared within a short time span from Evan Owen, Marsh, Nick Cope and Davidson. The first half ended with a goal from Davidson to make it 10-0.

With fresh legs to enter the fray, and to see the task fully completed Dan Bates, Jack Franklin and Gethin Hewson entered the picth. The plucky Milford team, although under siege throughout, battled well however couldn’t compete with the constant bombardment of NHS attacks. Goal hungry Davidson continued his fine form with yet another goal to make it five for the day.

This followed with a neat execution from Owen to make it his 4th and final goal of the game.

Time and time again the Milford side were heartlessly exposed and shortly after Richard Bambrick struck with a powerful shot ricocheting in off the crossbar, this racked up the 100th goal for NHS over the season.

Additional goals were added from the ever-eager Marsh popping up with another to make it four goals in the last three appearances.

Cope and Franklin both finished the game with four goals apiece with Franklin’s latter a sure contender for goal of the season. All in all, it was a near prefect display from this ruthless NHS side with a final scoreline of 21-0. This weekend’s fixture is away to Lawrenny.
