HAKIN United strengthened their grip on the Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division One title race with a gritty 1–0 victory over visitors St Ishmaels on Saturday.
The decisive moment came in the 53rd minute when Camron Thomas pounced on a deflected pass to slot home from eight yards, sending the Vikings nine points clear at the top.
The move began with Leon Luby cutting in from the right and attempting to find Ashley Bevan. A defender’s touch diverted the ball into Thomas’ path, and he made no mistake.
Second-placed Tenby salvaged a dramatic point thanks to a stoppage-time equaliser from Spencer Williams in a thrilling contest against Claberston Road.
Matthew Davies gave the hosts an early lead and doubled his tally on the hour. Tenby responded through Scott Ferney and Shaun Whitfield, but Claberston regained the advantage on 81 minutes before Williams’ late heroics.
Monkton Swifts and Goodwick United, sitting third and fourth respectively, shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw at Phoenix Park. Jimmy Russell opened the scoring for the Swifts on 40 minutes after good work by Jamie Wilkes, but Ben Adams equalised in first-half stoppage time, set up by Scott Delaney.
Kilgetty’s search for a first win continues after a 3–1 defeat to Narberth. Jacob Layfield struck early, Morgan Reece added a second after the break, and although Jordan Gorman pulled one back, Steffan Williams sealed the win late on.
Fishguard Sports were edged out 4–2 by Pennar Robins in a dramatic finish at Tregroes Park. Patrick Hughes and Luke Thomas netted for the hosts, but late goals from Gethin Bradney and Sean Edmundson gave the Robins victory after earlier strikes by Toby Davies and Thomas Grimwood.
Carew earned a point at Merlins Bridge, coming from two goals down. David Davies and Daniel Isaac had put the hosts ahead, but Marcus Griffiths and Harry Peniket struck late to level the match.
