Sunday, December 22, saw the Rabbits section play their annual pairs tournament for the Dilwater Shield. Despite two late withdrawals (had they seen the weather forecast?), 14 players turned up for the eagerly anticipated high/low draw in the clubhouse.

Our thanks go to club captain, Tony Key, who agreed go out with the first pair to mark their card, although our Rabbits captain, Paul Davies, and partner Adrian Palmer probably wished that he hadn't bothered, as their score of 35 points only secured last place.

Following the draw, the pre-tournament favourites were Bill Davies and Robin (how many shots) Bradbury, but the expectation was too great, as they finished in third place on 42 points.

The day started off dry with a cold blustery wind, which picked up as the round progressed. However, once all the players were out on the course, a severe hail shower was endured, with only Mackie Harts gaining any shelter from the comfort of his buggy.

The dry weather resumed and there was only one other interruption for a heavy shower late in the round.

We had one 'guest' Rabbit on the day, the ever-reliable Dafydd Evans, who partnered Richard Prout, with the pairing coming second with a score of 42 points, beating Bill and Robin on countback.

However, the day belonged to Mark Edwards and Chris Smith with a winning score of 45 points. This was a round of two halves, with Chris storming the front nine with an individual haul of 21 points and Mark mirroring this on the back nine.

There was only one 2 recorded, which was achieved by Mark Edwards on the 17th.
