Solva 3rds 2 Narberth 3rds 4

Narberth 3rds travelled away to Solva on Saturday, with the pitch in good conditions considering the amount of rain recently,

From the off, Narberth started with a great tempo and got their just reward with a goal scored by Dafydd within the first 10 minutes, which was made by a great run and cross from Tom Walter on the right wing.

They continued to press and struck again before half-time when Dafydd hit a curling cross which eluded the Solva 'keeper to fly into the net.

The hosts started the second half with more strength and belief after a verbal volley from their coach, but, although they had possession, they didn't look dangerous in the last third of the pitch.

Narberth won a free-kick which Jason Jones whipped in, hitting the Solva wall and spinning high in the air, but unfortunately for Solva it fell outside the box to Mike Jolly, who hit it on the volley and saw it fly into the net, giving the 'keeper no chance.

The visitors made a few changes, with Will Dunlop and Jacob Layfield coming on for Rory Jolly and Tom Walters.

Solva then pulled a goal back after the ball wasn't cleared from a corner.

This gave more belief and they poured forward leaving gaps at the back, which Narberth failed to take advantage of.

However, Solva were awarded a very dubious penalty, which was converted to close the lead to a single goal.

The response was a well-worked goal by Narberth when a Dunlop cross was met by Layfield to score, which was well-deserved, and proved to be the last kick of the game,

A good team performance against a good footballing team!
