There was double boxing success on the weekend for Pembrokeshire, as Mark White from Tenby Sharks and Jack Parkinson from Narberth ABC came home from the Welsh Novice Championships held at Markham Leisure Centre with wins.
“So we have a Welsh Champion! I can't express how proud I am of this kid,” said Tenby Sharks’ coach Mark Davies on White’s victory.
“The work ethic on this young man is second to none. This tenacious lil northerner typifies what hard work, determination and dedication can achieve.”
This month, the Sharks welcomed a veteran of the ring to one of their sessions at their gym base at Carew Airfield.
“We had the pleasure of Roy Witts coming out the gym to take the youngsters for a few rounds on the pads, and at 94 there's not many with the experience Roy has when it comes to coaching!” continued Mark.
“He may move a little slower and be a little softer of voice than he used to be, but to see how happy it made him putting those pads on and moving around was absolutely priceless. It was a pleasure to see him doing what has made him so happy all his life.”
The Sharks will be hosting its first show back at Tenby Leisure Centre for a while on February 11.
Details of how to get tickets will be available soon, and anyone interested in sponsoring bouts are welcome to contact the Club through its Facebook page.
