The Tipton Cups this year proved to be a real cat and mouse affair with Dave Morris and Jerry Whitehouse winning because of a better back nine from defending champions Rob Hall and Nick Thomas.
Both pairs must have played extremely well to record such fine scores. Rob and Nick were chasing their third win in succession.
Disappointment for this pair who have played so well in this competition for three years to be denied the hat trick of wins.
Both teams recorded a tremendous 69 with third place going to the father and son team of James and Neil Moffatt on 71. Also in the money were Phil Goodridge and Richard Morton with a score of 72.
The Tipton Cups were presented to the club in 1960 by Mrs. Tipton in memory of her husband Bill who was captain in 1957/58. Together, they ran the Cawdor Hotel for many years.
The competition is a foursome medal event and is traditionally played on the closest Wednesday to the longest day.
A total of 18 pairs took part on a beautiful summer's evening for a shotgun start which meant we were all back in the clubhouse together for the presentation.
