CRESSELLEY have moved to the top of the Pembrokeshire League Division One table after they produced an impressive display to knock Carew off their perch.

Four points separated the two teams going into the encounter but the Seasiders are now nine points clear following their 146-run victory inspired by a 151-run partnership by Tom Murphy and Simon Glyn Cole.

They were supported by Neilson Cole (20), Kyle Quartermaine (16), Griff Jenkins (13) and Thomas Arthur 10.

Chasing a daunting 286-run target, hosts Carew were bowled out for 140 runs thanks mainly to Thomas Arthur’s five-wicket haul for 28 runs in nine overs.

Four Carew batsmen got into double figures, opener Tim Hicks on 30, Brian Hall 14, Iori Hicks 24 and George Waters 23.

Neyland are up to third place following their seven-wicket success at Haverfordwest who were bowled out for 94, Rhys Sewell their main contributor with 23 runs.

Samuel Laugharne took 3 for 6 off 4.1 overs, with Jack John, Andrew Miller and Ross Hardy each taking two wickets.

Neyland reached their target with ease for the loss of two wickets – Paul Murray (24) and Patrick Bellerby (14). Dai Davies and Ross Hardy saw them over the line with unbeaten 22 and 23 respectively.

Saundersfoot dropped to fourth place following their 75-run defeat at Burton.

Choosing to bat the hosts posted a respectable 172 all out, a target that Saunderfoot never looked like threatening.

Joseph Kiff top scored for Burton with37 runs. Cope and John Mansbridge each took three wickets for the visitors.

There were four double figure contributors for Saundersfoot – Tom Mansbridge (23), Sam Franklin (23), N Cope (22) and Danny Brace.

Morgan Scale was the pick of Burton’s bowlers with 4 for 15 off 9, supported by Luke Hayman with 3 for 25 off 8.5 and Jack Davies with 3 for 32 off 9.

Lawrenny beat Whitland by three wickets in the other division one game played.

Whitland were bowled out for 129 runs, number one Gethin Scourfield their best batsman with 31 runs. For Lawrenny, Oscar Lewis (3 for 24 off 8) and Jamie Lewis (3 for 22 off 9).

Lawrenny reached the mark with overs to spare thanks to Harry Thomas (2), Oscar Lewis (15), Tro Purslowe (12), Joe Kidney (27) and Will Allen (22).
