Holders Cresselly Ladies played Hook in the final of the Skelfayre Cup on Sunday.

And they put up a fine effort to retain the trophy, finally going down by just six runs in an exciting final in which both teams produced some excellent cricket.

Hook batted first and scored 112-2, with Sam Rossiter top scoring with an unbeaten 53 and Jo Kerrison weighing in with a useful 45.

For Cresselly, Eleri Williams took 2 for 22 in five overs, while Julie Garlick was very economical, conceding only eight runs in four overs.

In reply, Cresselly scored 106 for 2, with Julie Garlick hitting 49 not out and Rebecca Williams adding 40.

Alice Thomas and Leanne Jones shared the wickets for Hook, taking 1 for 29 and 1 for 24, respectively.

In their second innings, ended on 106-4, with Jo Kerrison again in the runs with a fine 62 not out, while best Cresselly bowlers were Eleri Williams 1 for 21, Julie Garlick 2 for 19 and Megan Jenkins 1 for 20.

Despite Julie Garlick having another fine knock of 52 not out, Cresselly unfortunately fell six runs short of their target as their innings closed on 106 for 9.

For Hook, Leanne Jones and Alice Thomas bagged three wickets apiece, while Chloe Field picked up one.

Man of the match was Jo Kerrison from Hook for her 45 runs in the first innings and 62n.o. in the second.
