A young cricketer who plays for Cresselly CC recently represented Wales at a prestigious tournament. Tom Murphy was chosen to play for the South and West of England cricket team at the Under 15 Bunbury Festival held recently at Oakham School in Rutland. The Bunbury schools cricket festival brings together the best under 15s cricketers from the UK to play in their respective regions. Tom was one of two players to be chosen from Wales. Now in its 28th year, this festival is one of the highlights of the recreational cricket calendar and represents a terrific opportunity for the leading players to display their talents in front of the current England coach Peter Moore. Overall, the South and West region came third. The overall winners were London and the East with the Midlands second and North region in forth place. Tom did well with the ball taking wickets in each game and scoring a match-winning 26 against the North. An added bonus was the 20/20 festival at Grace Road the home of Leicester CC where the region played against the Midlands. The England development side will be picked soon and Tom is hoping for good news!
