At the annual general meeting of the Welsh Bowling Association at Merthyr Tydfil on Thursday, December 12, Pembroke Dock bowler Gerard Thomas was appointed Welsh Bowling Association president for 2014.

Gerard joined Pembroke Dock Bowling Club in 1994 and has performed the duties of match secretary, competition secretary and Open Week secretary. In 1995, he became the club delegate to Pembroke County Bowling Association and served on the management committee for many years and in the millennium year 2000 he was elected county president.

In 2003, he took over the post of county secretary and at the same time became an executive member of the Welsh Bowling Association. During his time on the WBA he has accompanied Welsh bowls international teams to Ireland, Scotland and England and has been involved in the Welsh National Finals which are held annually at Llandrindod Wells.

His many friends and colleagues wish him a successful year in office.
