With Ironman Wales returning this month to Tenby and its surrounding area - the date for next year’s triathlon has already been set by the organisers.

On Sunday, September 21, thousands of athletes will descend on Tenby and Pembrokeshire to compete in Ironman Wales, with the event starting as always from the iconic North Beach with a two-loop 2.4-mile (3.8 km) swim course setting off at 7.25am; followed by a two-loop 112-mile (180.2 km) bike course taking athletes through the scenic countryside of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park past the numerous castles and landmarks; before the four-loop 26.2-mile (42.2 km) marathon course, ends at the Esplanade, overlooking South Beach.

Whilst many of the athletes racing come from the UK, athletes are also travelling from all over Europe, and from around the world.

Of course, as always there will be a large local contingent ‘facing the dragon’ once again, including a family from Tenby of five - with husband and wife Chris and Lana Brace set to be joined by son Jay, daughter Ella and son in-law Jordan Jones.

This will be Chris’s fifth time, Lana’s sixth time, Jay’s second time, but Ella’s and Jordan’s very first time competing in Ironman Wales.

The event date has already been set for next year, taking place on September 13.

The organisers shared: “As we look ahead to facing the dragon this year, we already can't wait to return in 2026! Ironman Wales will be back on Sunday 13th September next year.

“If you're in Tenby for race week this year, you can enter exclusively in Expo from Friday to Monday on race weekend only, which will guarantee you a spot at the lowest entry price if you enter right away.

“General registration will then open online on Thursday 25th September.”
