Tenby powerboat racer Charles Stewart-Walvin, aged 16, will represent Wales in the National Finals of the Honda RYA Youth Rib Championships after winning the Welsh final for the second time.
Greenhill schoolboy Charles, who has been racing for six years, made the most of his experience to dominate the 13-16 age group, four years after winning the younger 8-12 age group, to represent Wales on the national stage.
"I am very excited to have won," admitted Charles, an RYA powerboat level 2 qualified driver.
The winner of the 8-12 age group was Pwllheli Offshore Sea School's Chris Corcoran claiming first place, who will also go on to represent Wales at the National Finals held at the Boat Show in Southampton later in the year.
"The event was held in perfect conditions and it was good to see the young powerboaters take advantage to demonstrate some really tight racing," said Andy Felthouse, the Honda RYA RIB national event manager.
"The 8-12 category was particularly close fought, while Charles Stewart-Walvin was fairly dominant in the 13-16 age group.
"As ever, the enjoyment of all the participants was good to see, with a healthy double figure number of competitors having qualified through to the finals to make it a day of excellent racing."
The Honda RYA Youth Rib Championship, sponsored by Honda and Ribcraft, is a National Championship in which 8-16-year-old RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) drivers can demonstrate their boat handling skills in a race against the clock in the hope of winning a 4.8m Ribcraft or Honwave T40 for their club.
