The Quins put up a creditable performance for a large part of the game before succumbing to their hosts after two injuries reduced them to 13 players at half-time. The visitors kicked off into the wind and were soon in the ascendancy and forced a penalty for an infringement at a ruck after just four minutes, but unfortunately outside-half Andrew Price missed with his attempt. The Quins were having much the better of the opening stages and it was against the run of play that the hosts opened the scoring when centre Sean Gorman touched down halfway out after rounding the Quins' defence. Outside-half Jason Freeman converted to give his side a seven-point lead after 15 minutes. The home side seemed to grow in confidence, but the Quins more than held their own against a side playing a division above them last season. It was to their great credit that the Quins only conceded six more points as the half drew to a close, through the boot of Freeman, to only go in at the interval 13 points adrift with the wind in their favour. The Quins were a dealt a cruel blow before the second second half even started when they lost centre Dan Goodridge with a worrying head injury which occurred before the break and prop Nathan Abrahams to a leg injury. With only 13 players, the task now facing the Quins was huge and it did not take long before Aberaeron took full advantage, scoring their second try through right wing Ivan Slinger, which went unconverted, to stretch the lead to 18 points. Three more unconverted tries were soon added through second row Gethin Hughes, hooker Hugh Wozencraft and flanker Kieran Etheridge, before the Quins responded with a try of their own. After running what seemed numerous short range penalties, captain Neil Harries was held up over the line before Andrew Price, who had a fine game, forced his way over to get the Quins on the scoresheet. The conversion was missed and with the score now 33-5 in Aberaeron's favour and with 15 minutes still to go, it was a damage limitation job for the Quins, whose 13 men tried the best they could, but the home side added three more tries, with both Slinger (whose effort was converted by Freeman) and Wozencraft grabbing their second, before substitute flanker Alistair Severs rounded off the scoring with another with the last move of the match, which Freeman converted.
