In their second match at the group stage of the Pembrokeshire Division Two cup competition, St. Issell’s visited Milford Haven to play St. Kaths in what was a must-win game, having lost their first fixture to Neyland.
The sides shared two winning rinks each, but the villagers gained a win overall by 13 shots and now have everything to play for in their last group match when they travel to play Borderers on Wednesday, July 20.
The winners of this group will contest the final against the second group winners at Saundersfoot on Saturday, September 3.

PEMBROKE
DOCK 91 (10 pts.) SAUNDERSFOOT 73 (4)
Playing their third away match in just over a week, the Saundersfoot First Division team gained just four points from their visit to Pembroke Dock.
With six first team regulars missing for a variety of reasons, the task was always going to be a hard one against a team who, after a shaky start to the season, have in recent weeks found their form with several wins.
At the start of the game, it looked as if an upset was on the cards as the Seasiders took an early lead and found themselves 10 shots up at the halfway point.
Unfortunately, the lead could not be sustained as the loss of three out of four regular skips began to take its toll and the Dockers were able to overturn the deficit and gain an 18-shot win.
Saundersfoot have now played five of their eight away fixtures and with six games remaining at home, there is every expectation that a finish near the top of the league could be attained.
Rink scores, with Saundersfoot first and Pembroke Dock skips only, were:
Doug Silcox, Roger Whittaker, Mackie Brace, Brian Desmond 26; Matthew John 24.
Roy Kennion, Tommy Nutt, Graham Hughes, Alan Brain 14; Richard Jones 34.
Nev Ruff, Rhys O’Mara, Paul Blayney, Steve Dick 20; Richard Hissey 13.
John Dugmore, Selwyn Price, Dai Davies, Joe Dennis 13; Brian Dowling 20.
There are no matches this weekend due to the county finals being played and Saundersfoot will play Whitland at home next Wednesday at 6 pm.
COUNTY FINALS
After a busy week of semi-finals last week, the finals of the men’s PCBA competitions will take place this weekend at Saundersfoot, the home of this year’s county president, Paul Blayney.
There are matches all day, commencing at 10 am, with food and refreshments available.
Saundersfoot have Paul himself, accompanied by Mackie Brace, playing in the senior pairs, Adam Hensman contesting the Under 25s singles, Steve Poole, Joe Dennis, and Graham Hughes in the triples and Steve, Joe, Graham, plus Adam in the rinks final.
Why not come along and support not only the villagers, but all the other bowlers who have reached this stage, with the winners going on to represent our county at the national finals at Llandrindod Wells in August.
Good luck to them all on what promises to be a thrilling day of bowls and may the sun shine!
