The 2023 league season drew to a close last Sunday at Pembroke Dock Bowling Club with both teams in action.

The first division side travelled to Tenby to take on the league leaders. Having suffered two heavy defeats against The Sharks already this season, an improved performance was called for.

Although Tenby were without some of their big guns, they fielded a strong side.

It was good to see the visitors put up a stout challenge, losing by just six shots (75 – 69) overall.

However, by losing narrowly on three rinks and drawing on the rink skipped by James John-Davies, The Dock returned home with just one solitary point.

On the same afternoon, the Warrior side took on Neyland at the Memorial Park in their final second division fixture.

The match started on a bright September afternoon minus the furnace like heat of the previous day.

However, a cloudburst saw the green underwater making play impossible - play was abandoned for the day after 13 ends!

The previous day saw the annual Les and Di pairs competition held at the Memorial Park.

The event consisted of a morning and afternoon session with each duo playing in a round robin format against teams in the same session. Winners and runners up in both sessions went through to the semi-final stage, the winners meeting in the final.

The final saw Margaret Lewis and Haydn John-Davies playing Daniel Bassett and Jackie Church with Margaret and Haydn coming out on top.

The pair were presented with the handsome trophy by Mrs Di Davies, (Club President).
