On Saturday, April 2, Pembroke Dock Bowling Club opened the new season with the casting of the ‘silver jack’.

This is a tradition which is rooted in the very beginning of the Memorial Park and the origins of the bowling green.

A notable local resident or club member is invited to bowl a ‘silver jack’ to welcome the opening of a new season. Many members of the club turn out to witness the ceremony.

This year, the honour went to Mrs. Sally Carroll who tends to the potted plants that decorate the entrance to the club. Many visitors to the club comment on the display which Sally produces every year.

Following the ceremonial bowling, Sally was presented with a bouquet by Club President Mrs. Di Davies, pictured alongsode Chairman Mr. Richard Hissey.
