Tenby Bowling Club’s annual knockout competitions reached a climax last weekend.

Although entries were fewer than in previous years, the finals, played last Saturday and Sunday, still produced some excellent action on the Sutton Street green.

Undoubted star of the weekend, though, was Cameron White, who appeared in no fewer than four singles finals... and amazingly his opponent in all of them was also the same player, Ashley Hooper.

The two rivals went head to head throughout the day on Saturday and at the end of play, the score stood three victories to one in Cameron’s favour, including the T.P. Hughes club championship, with Ashley gaining his only success in the Maurice Ormond two-wood singles.

But Cameron was not finished there. For good measaure, he returned on what as a wet and miserable Sunday to also add the W.F. Jones two-wood triples trophy to his collection of silverware, being aided and abetted on this occasion by Ken Lloyd and Ryan Thomas.

Another player to enjoy a successful weekend was Roger Thomas, who bagged two trophies at the expense of Peter Hooper, winning both the Wyn Samuel Over 65s trophy and the Last Gasp Over 70s title.

Peter, himself, though had plenty to celebrate as he put the disappointment of those defeats behind him to join Liz Rees in winning the Marquiss Rose Bowl mixed pairs and making it a double as he teamed up with Mike Day to win the Thomas and Lloyd Jones Over 65s pairs.

In fact, there was also double delight for Mike, as he and son Peter walked off with the Berry and Rogers four-wood pairs trophy - their opponents in the final being none other than Peter‘s own son Evan and that man again, Cameron White.

Mike and Peter couldn’t repeat their success in the Evans and John two-wood pairs, though, as they went down in a real nail-biter to Dai Spencer and Viv John.
