THE first 21 affordable letting properties at the site of the former Cleddau Bridge Hotel, Pembroke Dock will be advertised on the council’s Choice Homes website from Wednesday, September 2.
Pembrokeshire County Council has secured the purchase of new, high-quality, affordable homes within the Essex Road development, to let to people who need housing in Pembroke Dock.
The council has made a commitment that when the new homes at Golwg y Cleddau are initially allocated, priority will be given to applicants who have a connection with the Pembroke Dock community.
The first phase of homes available for bidding comprises four 3-bedroom houses, nine 2-bedroom houses and eight 1-bedroom flats to include four flats designated for applicants aged 55 and over and four general needs flats.
These properties will be allocated in accordance with a Local Lettings Policy, requiring applicants to demonstrate a local connection to the designated area.
To be eligible to bid, applicants must have a current live housing application, being registered with Choice Homes Pembrokeshire and assessed in gold or silver band. They must also satisfy at least one of the following conditions:
– Resident in the area for five consecutive years within the last 10;
– Having a close family member, resident in the area for the past 10 years, who provides or receives support to or from a member of the applicant’s household;
– Having a child who is a member of the household attending Pembroke Dock or Pennar community schools for at least 24 months;
– Permanently employed in the area for at least 16 hours per week for the past 24 months.
The first round will cover the area of Pembroke Dock only and if required will extend to cover Pembroke Dock and Pembroke in the second round. The properties will be advertised on [email protected] .
