Tavernspite School created a splash at a recent swimming gala. The primary school's swimming team won the overall trophy at the annual Narberth and District Junior Schools Swimming Gala. Neighbouring school Templeton was runner-up. One hundred and fifteen pupils from Brynconin, Bro Brynach, Narberth, Netherwood, Tavernspite, Templeton and Whitland schools took part in the three-day gala at Narberth swimming pool. Brian Jones, recently retired head teacher at Tavernspite School, presented ribbons (donated by West Wales Marquees) to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed swimmers, along with shields for the winning relay teams. The final results were as follows: 1. Tavernspite 89; 2. Templeton 82; 3. Narberth 63; 4. Brynconin 49; 5. Whitland 19; 6. Netherwood 13; 7. Bro Brynach 1. All race winners will now go through to the Pembrokeshire Junior Schools Gala to be held in Milford Haven next month.
