Police in Narberth are cracking down on the anti-social behaviour of youngsters in the town.

Officers have pledged to take action against anyone caught harassing local residents after receiving a number of complaints that young people have been knocking on doors and windows of properties and then running away before the owners can answer the door.

"The youngsters have been making an nuisance of themselves by calling on elderly people in the Chapelfield Gardens, Coxhill and town centre areas over the last week," explained a police spokesman.

"Residents are very concerned and distressed about this behaviour which tends to occur between 6.30 pm and 8 pm, just as it is going dark" the spokesman continued.

"The youngsters, who we believe are aged between seven and 14 years, have also been abusive and the elderly people are feeling threatened by their misbehaviour.

"The youngsters are acting in a very anti-social manner and anyone that we catch will be dealt with accordingly," the spokesman stressed.

"We are asking the youngsters to show a respect and stop making a nuisance of themselves.

"We would also urge parents to keep an eye on their children and check up on what they are up to before they go out," the spokesman added.

Police are making inquiries into the matter and appeal for anyone with any information to contact them at the town's police station on 860389.
