In December, Tiers Cross Young Farmers Club did some fundraising. They held a Christmas bingo on December 13 in The Welcome Traveller, Tiers Cross, with many past and present members and families attending. Following on from the bingo, members spent two cold nights nearer to Christmas carol singing around local houses of past and present members. As a result, they managed to raise a fantastic £1,000 which has gone towards The DPJ Foundation.
The DPJ Foundation is a new charity being set up in Pembrokeshire which focuses on mental health awareness in agriculture in the county.
“We chose the charity as we felt it was an appropriate choice with many members being involved in agriculture so felt it was an important charity to support,” said a spokesperson for the club. “Emma, who set up the foundation after her husband committed suicide last year as a result of mental health, also spent an evening with our club members to tell us how the fundraising will help.”
