Narberth and Whitland Rotary Club recently held their club level event for the annual District 1150 (South Wales) Young Chef Competiton at Ysgol Dyffryn Taf, Whitland.
The standard of entries was extremely high, giving the two judges, Bruce Guy and Bill Cotton, a very difficult decision as to the eventual winner. The Rotary Club is deeply grateful to them both for giving up the time and using their expertise to help.
After much thought, they decided that the winner was Nia James, a Year 10 pupil from Ysgol-y-Preseli, Crymych.
The pictures show the contestants and the winner, Nia, being presented with her certificate and prize by the sponsors of the ingredients, Daniel and Megan Davies, of the Roadside Restaurant, Whitland.
The Rotary is very grateful to them also for their invaluable help and assistance. They commented that as they are both ex-pupils of Ysgol Dyffryn Taf, they appreciated how important such competitions were to the pupils.
The winner now goes on to compete at the next area round to be held in Pembrokeshire in the New Year. This covers the whole of Pembrokeshire, with the winner from that progressing to the Disrict Finals (all Wales), and then hopefully onto the United Kingdom finals in April.
