Three young chefs, who are perfecting their cooking skills at a local hotel, took part in a competition this week to see who could serve up the best culinary delights in the kitchen.

The three students, who are all Year 11 pupils at local schools, were asked to perform a cook off, given just an hour-and-a-half to produce two portions of a two-course meal to include a main course and either a dessert or starter.

The students competing, who are being instructed under PRP training company Choices at Tudor Lodge Hotel, Jameston, were Greenhill School pupil Sean Davies, Jessica Griffiths, of Pembroke School, and Carla Allen, who attends Neyland School.

Sixteen-year-old Carla impressed the three judges the most, scooping the 'young chef of the year 2007' accolade. She will now go on to enter further competitions.
