A runner-up prize in one of the categories included amongst the NFU Presidents' Awards 2002 announced this week to celebrate farming excellence goes to a widely travelled Pembrokeshire YFC member.

Up for the Young Farmer of the Year prize (sponsored by Tesco) was 22-year-old Joy Williams, of Parcymarl Farm, Maenclochog, Clynderwen.

A graduate of the UCW Aberystwyth Welsh Institute of Rural Studies, she is a keen member of the Llysyfran club and works on the family farm which has 150 dairy cows and 60 followers, 300 head of beef cattle and 20 acres of cereals.

She is responsible for the herd management of the dairy unit and aims to produce "high quality milk from high quality cows."
