MANORBIER Newton Fundraisers’ annual soup and pudding lunch, in Lamphey Village Hall, was exceptionally well attended with generous support from regular and new guests.

The final amount raised was £1,682-45 which will be split between three local and very worthy charities, Homeless Pembrokeshire, The Trussell Trust Food Bank Pembroke Dock and dementia support group Forget -Me-Knot Pembs.

The event on Saturday, February 14 got off to a good start with lovely sunshine and then the action started: A packed hall, full of laughter and chat, tables beautifully decorated with flowers and then the food arrived - and what a fantastic selection!

There were three tasty soups, served with bread and cheese, and then the desserts - hot and cold and all homemade. It was very difficult to choose from the 18 puddings. Chocolate roulade or golden syrup pudding? Or perhaps some Black Forest Trifle, or Bread and Butter Pudding? So much choice! It seems that takeaways helped solve the choice dilemma.

Visitors from all over the county relaxed over their lunch, chatting with old friends and making new ones.

The raffle was well supported, raising a hefty sum of money . There were three beautiful packaged hampers as well as several smaller prizes, all kindly donated by Manorbier Newton villagers and local friends.

The organisers would like to thank everyone for supporting this event and consequently the three nominated charities. They also appreciate all the extra help from friends for washing up, clearing tables, waiting on tables, serving drinks, making raffle and food donations and taking care of the finances. Manorbier Newton Fundraisers work as a well oiled machine, with professionalism and humour.

They extend their thanks to Helen Brickell, who every year has the vision and organisational skills to motivate and inspire everyone, and look forward to their next event.
