A FORMER pupil of Heywood Lane Infants School, Tenby, has been celebrating after winning a top writing award.
Ten-year-old Max Carrington, who now attends Sladen Middle School in Kidderminster, won the 'Most Persuasive Writer' title with his piece 'Town or Country' and beat more than 1,500 students in the regional heat of the 'Write Here, Write Now' competition, a government scheme which aims to promote creative writing.
Max, who attended the Heywood Lane school until moving to the Midlands in 1988, will now travel to the Natural History Museum in London with his mother and literacy teacher to receive his prize from schools minister, David Miliband.
