Hundreds of wool enthusiasts flocked to Narberth to enjoy the fleecy delights of the West Wales Wool Show.

With knitting now the in-vogue hobby of A list celebrities, business was brisk for the 25 stallholders offering all kinds of wool products, including handcrafted clothes, capes and throws, sheepskin boots, rugs, toys and gifts.

There was also all kinds of knitting equipment on sale. People were able to pick-up information on traditional wool skills and purchase tools and equipment to be able to do it at home.

There were also workshops on felting, dyeing and painting wool and stallholders were demonstrating throughout the day.

Traders said their takings from the day were better than bigger high profile events elsewhere.

The event was held as part of British Wool Week with the aim of highlighting the importance and versatility of wool and increase awareness of this high quality local product and how to add value to it.

The event was organised by PLANED (Pembrokeshire Local Action Network for Enterprise and Development) with assistance from the Pembrokeshire Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers as part of the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-20013 which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
